Job summary

ID5, a remote-first UK-based technology company, seeks a General Counsel to shape legal strategy and lead an in-house team. You will partner with the CEO, founders and board, negotiating with customers, partners and regulators, and embedding privacy by design across product and data practices.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee governance, IP, disputes and cross-border matters while building scalable processes and external counsel relationships to move fast and protect value.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with UK or US licensure and experience advising on complex commercial agreements.
• Strong governance and regulatory compliance experience in software/adtech or data-heavy environments.
• Proven ability to lead external and in-house counsel, and manage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set legal and enterprise risk strategy; provide final sign-off to CEO and board.
• Lead in-house team and outside counsel on contracts, IP, privacy and data rights.
• Oversee governance, cross-border entities, and major commercial partnerships.
• Advise on GDPR/UK GDPR, data transfers and privacy-by-design across products.
• Manage disputes, indemnities and strategic corporate development projects.
• Build scalable processes and guardrails for a remote-first global org.
