Job summary

Liverpool John Moores University is seeking a competent fire safety professional to lead assurance and advisory work on the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. You will coordinate risk assessments, maintain records, and advise on fire protection across campus facilities.

You will communicate with local authorities, Fire and Rescue, and project teams, delivering bespoke training and contributing to safety governance through sub-committees.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering fire safety risk assessments under the Fire Safety Order.
• Ability to communicate with local authorities, MFRS and university teams.
• Professional fire safety qualifications and membership where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the functions of a 'competent person' under the Fire Safety Order and be the main contact with MFRS.
• Plan, conduct, document and review fire risk assessments and report findings to committees.
• Review fire strategies and provide technical fire safety advice for projects and maintenance.
• Design and deliver fire safety training and maintain a training needs matrix.
• Maintain auditable records of risk assessments, plans and emergency procedures.
• Liaise with estate and campus services to ensure proper testing of life safety systems.
