I’m currently retained to recruit a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a dynamic, privately owned ecommerce business based in the North West of England, with an annual turnover of circa £100 million. The brand has experienced exceptional growth over recent years, driven by a loyal customer base, innovative marketing, and an ambitious leadership team.

As they embark on their next phase of expansion, both in the UK and internationally they’re looking to recruit a commercially astute, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the executive leadership team and help shape the future of the business.

The Role

As CFO, you’ll play a critical role in driving financial strategy, governance, and operational performance to support our growth ambitions. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the board, you’ll lead all aspects of financial, people and operations across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial strategy and planning for the business, ensuring alignment with growth targets and operational priorities.
• Develop and manage a high-performing finance team capable of supporting a scaling, multi-channel business.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and statutory compliance.
• Provide commercial insight and financial modelling to support key business decisions, including new market entries, product launches, and potential acquisitions.
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, investors, and other external partners.
• Develop financial systems, processes, and controls to support a growing and increasingly complex operation.
• Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and board, contributing to overall business strategy and long-term planning.

Candidatebackground

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified experience, ideally within fast-growth, consumer-led businesses (ecommerce/retail experience highly desirable).
• Proven track record in a CFO or senior financial leadership role, ideally within an owner-managed, fast-growing business.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance financial rigour with entrepreneurial agility.
• Hands-on, energetic, and adaptable — comfortable operating both strategically and operationally in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience managing international growth, digital channels, and supply chain finance would be advantageous.

The role is 100% office based, so would suit someone based in the North West, or with genuine ties to the region.
