Job description

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for an accomplished, strategically minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a long-standing Jenson Fisher client during a period of significant growth and organisational evolution. Based in Glasgow, our client maintains a strong footprint across construction, property and a diverse range of operational sectors. As CFO, you will join the senior leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s financial strategy, driving commercial performance, and strengthening financial governance across a multi-entity group structure.

This appointment provides the opportunity to lead the finance function end-to-end, influencing business decisions at the highest level while supporting the continued transformation, standardisation and optimisation of finance operations.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Board, the CFO will assume full leadership of the finance team—including management accountants and transactional finance—and will be responsible for delivering robust financial insight, strategic planning, and effective stewardship of the Group’s financial resources. You will act as a key advisor to senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity, control and forward-looking analysis that informs the organisation’s direction.

Beyond technical excellence, the successful candidate will be a proactive, commercially astute leader with a passion for developing people, improving systems, and embedding best-in-class financial processes across all business units.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
  • Develop and deliver the Group’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the Board and senior leadership, providing insightful analysis, scenario modelling and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles, promoting rigour, transparency and challenge across all divisions.
Financial Management & Governance
  • Oversee preparation and consolidation of Group monthly management accounts, providing high-quality commentary, trend analysis, and actionable insights.
  • Lead statutory accounting, audit processes and regulatory compliance, serving as the primary contact for external auditors.
  • Strengthen financial controls, policies and risk management frameworks across all entities.
Cashflow & Working Capital Optimisation
  • Take full ownership of Group cashflow management, forecasting and optimisation strategies to maintain resilience and support growth.
  • Drive improvements in working capital processes across AP, AR and credit control to ensure robust liquidity management.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Champion innovation within the finance function, maximising the use of technology, automation and integrated systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Standardise processes and reporting across subsidiary companies, ensuring consistency, control and scalability.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Commercial Insight & Performance Management
  • Provide deep analysis of business performance, market trends and project profitability to support operational leaders.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, capital projects and business cases, providing clear financial assessments and recommendations.
  • Support strategic initiatives including potential acquisitions, divestments, and restructuring activities as required.
Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will be a forward-thinking CFO with experience and gravitas to take into this position. You will bring:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent) with significant relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable success operating at a senior finance or strategic leadership level, ideally within construction, property or related industries, although this is not essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Proven experience improving processes, controls and financial systems across multi-entity environments.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the gravitas to operate as part of a senior leadership team.
  • A proactive, energetic approach with a commitment to driving continuous improvement and organisational excellence.
