Job summary

Safe in Sussex, a specialist domestic abuse charity in West Sussex, seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead from Ferring with a hybrid pattern (3 days onsite). The role offers a salary in the region of £55,000, a 37-hour week and a full-time contract as the charity approaches its 50th anniversary.

You will provide strategic, compassionate leadership, build strong Trustee and funder partnerships, and secure sustainable income while ensuring trauma-informed services across the county.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a charity, public service or other values-led organisation.
• Experience of leading organisational change, development or cultural transformation.
• Strong safeguarding, risk management and trauma-informed leadership knowledge.
• Financial leadership, including budgeting, planning and sustainability.
• Understanding of income generation, commissioning, funding or fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, compassionate and accountable leadership to Safe in Sussex.
• Shape the next organisational chapter and strengthen leadership capacity.
• Ensure services remain safe, trauma-informed and survivor-centred.
• Oversee financial planning, income generation and long-term sustainability.
• Represent the charity externally and strengthen relationships with partners and funders.
