Job summary

Safe in Sussex is a specialist domestic abuse charity in West Sussex seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic, compassionate leadership during a period of transition. The role is hybrid with three days onsite and supports the organisation’s mission to help service users live free from abuse and fear.

You will oversee strategic direction, financial planning and income generation while representing the charity externally to maintain partnerships and funding.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a charity, public service or other values-led organisation.
• Experience of leading organisational change, development or cultural transformation.
• Strong safeguarding, risk management and trauma-informed leadership knowledge.
• Financial leadership experience, including budgeting, planning and organisational sustainability.
• Understanding of income generation, commissioning, funding or fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, compassionate and accountable leadership to Safe in Sussex.
• Shape the next organisational chapter and lead cultural evolution.
• Oversee financial planning, income generation and long-term sustainability.
• Represent the charity externally and strengthen relationships with partners.
• Ensure services remain safe, trauma-informed and survivor-centred.
