Chief Architecture Engineer – Advanced Processor Technologies

We're partnering with a globally recognised technology organisation to appoint an exceptional Chief Architecture Engineer to join its advanced research and engineering division.

This is a rare opportunity for a recognised industry expert to influence the future direction of processor architecture and next-generation computing platforms. Working within a research-led environment, you'll play a key role in shaping long-term technology strategy, leading architectural innovation and driving the development of future computing solutions.

This position is ideally suited to someone who combines world-class technical expertise with the ability to lead complex research initiatives and inspire multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The Opportunity

As a senior technical leader, you'll help define the architectural direction of future processor technologies, balancing innovation with practical engineering considerations to deliver scalable, high-performance computing solutions.

Working across research, engineering and product organisations, you'll contribute to long-term technology planning while remaining closely involved in architecture development, technical evaluation and engineering leadership.

This role offers significant influence over future technology strategy and provides the opportunity to collaborate with internationally recognised engineers and researchers on complex architectural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture Strategy

  • Lead the development of next-generation processor and system architectures.
  • Define long-term technical direction through research, technology evaluation and architectural planning.
  • Identify emerging trends and assess their potential impact on future computing platforms.
  • Provide expert technical guidance across complex architectural programmes.
  • Lead advanced research activities focused on improving computing performance, scalability and efficiency.
  • Evaluate new architectural concepts through modelling, simulation and technical analysis.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, technical publications and intellectual property generation.
  • Support the transition of research concepts into practical engineering solutions.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as a senior technical authority across architecture development programmes.
  • Mentor engineering teams, providing guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering groups and research partners.
  • Promote engineering excellence and encourage innovative thinking throughout the organisation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineering teams to ensure architectural solutions align with broader technology objectives.
  • Engage with external research organisations, academic institutions and industry partners where appropriate.
  • Present technical recommendations and strategic direction to senior stakeholders.
  • Support the successful delivery of long-term engineering programmes.

About You

We're looking for an internationally recognised architecture specialist with extensive experience designing complex computing systems and a passion for advancing future technologies.

You Are Likely To Have

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience in processor architecture, computer architecture or advanced systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of instruction set design, processor microarchitecture or high-performance computing technologies.
  • Experience researching, developing or evolving advanced computing architectures.
  • A proven ability to solve complex technical problems through innovative engineering approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience engaging both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • A collaborative leadership style with experience mentoring senior engineering teams.

Experience That Would Be Highly Beneficial
