Chief Content Editor — WiTMoney.co.uk
Location: UK / Remote or Hybrid
Employment type: Full-time
Reports to: Managing Director
Website: WiTMoney.co.uk
About WiTMoney
WiTMoney is a UK financial comparison and information platform helping consumers and businesses compare financial products, understand their options, and make more informed money decisions.
The site covers areas including loans, credit cards, mortgages, current accounts, savings, ISAs, investments, insurance, business finance, calculators and financial guides.
Our editorial approach is built around clarity, accuracy, transparency and useful comparison content. We aim to make complex financial topics easier to understand without oversimplifying important risks, eligibility criteria, fees or product limitations.
The role
We are looking for a Chief Content Editor to lead the editorial quality, strategy and governance of WiTMoney.co.uk.
This is a senior, hands‑on role for someone who can combine strong editorial judgement with financial‑services knowledge, SEO awareness, commercial understanding and rigorous fact‑checking.
You will be responsible for ensuring that WiTMoney’s comparison pages, guides, provider profiles, tools and supporting editorial content are accurate, clear, current and consistently high quality.
The role is not simply about publishing more content. It is about building a trusted editorial operation where every page has a clear purpose, reliable sourcing, appropriate risk context and a strong user experience.
Key responsibilities
- Own the editorial strategy and standards for WiTMoney.co.uk.
- Lead the planning, commissioning, editing and publication of financial comparison content, guides, explainers and provider information.
- Review and improve content across borrowing, banking, savings, investments, insurance, mortgages and business finance.
- Ensure articles and comparison pages are accurate, balanced, easy to understand and appropriate for a UK audience.
- Maintain strong editorial separation between commercial relationships and editorial judgement.
- Establish and enforce house style, tone of voice, sourcing standards, fact‑checking processes and update policies.
- Ensure financial claims, rates, fees, limits, eligibility criteria and product features are supported by reliable published sources.
- Oversee content review cycles so time-sensitive financial information is checked and refreshed regularly.
- Work closely with SEO, product, design and engineering teams to improve page structure, internal linking, metadata, information architecture and user journeys.
- Identify content gaps and build topic clusters around high-value financial categories.
- Improve existing pages rather than focusing only on new content production.
- Review comparison methodology wording and ensure product descriptions do not overstate availability, suitability or market coverage.
- Ensure distinctions such as “included”, “optional”, “tier‑dependent”, “not stated” and “not available” are represented accurately.
- Review calculator and tool supporting copy for clarity and consistency.
- Oversee provider profile content and ensure company/product distinctions are correctly represented.
- Manage freelance writers, editors and subject‑matter contributors where required.
- Build editorial briefs that combine user intent, search demand, commercial relevance and compliance considerations.
- Track content performance using organic search, engagement and conversion data without allowing short‑term metrics to compromise editorial quality.
- Support expansion into new financial categories and, where relevant, new country markets.
- Maintain an editorial audit trail for important changes, sources and checked dates.
Editorial and compliance standards
The Chief Content Editor will be expected to ensure that WiTMoney content:
- does not present personalised financial advice;
- clearly distinguishes factual information from editorial explanation;
- avoids unsupported claims such as “best”, “cheapest” or “whole market” unless those claims are demonstrably true;
- explains material risks, exclusions and eligibility requirements;
- does not convert optional or conditional benefits into universal claims;
- uses appropriate risk language for investments, borrowing and insurance;
- accurately reflects provider terms and published product information;
- clearly explains where WiTMoney may receive commission or referral fees;
- remains useful and understandable without becoming promotional or sales‑led.
What we are looking for
You should have:
- significant experience in financial journalism, financial content, comparison publishing, consumer finance or a related field;
- strong knowledge of UK personal finance and financial products;
- excellent editing, rewriting and fact‑checking skills;
- the ability to simplify complex financial information without losing accuracy;
- strong editorial judgement;
- experience managing content standards across a large website;
- a good understanding of SEO, search intent and content architecture;
- confidence reviewing product tables, comparison data and technical financial terminology;
- experience working with writers, freelancers or editorial teams;
- strong attention to detail;
- an evidence‑led approach to sourcing and verification.
Useful experience
It would be beneficial to have experience with some of the following:
- personal loans and credit cards;
- mortgages;
- current accounts and savings;
- ISAs and investments;
- insurance comparison;
- business finance;
- consumer‑credit publishing;
- FCA‑regulated financial‑services environments;
- affiliate or comparison websites;
- structured product databases;
- SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs or Semrush;
- CMS platforms and content workflows;
- working with product and engineering teams.
What success looks like

- consistently high editorial standards across the site;
- fewer factual and data‑quality issues;
