Job summary

Veolia Hazardous Waste Transfer Station in Avonmouth is seeking a Chempac Chemist. You will assess, label and safely transport hazardous waste streams, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate documentation.

The role offers opportunities for technical mentoring and close collaboration with customers.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or equivalent in Chemistry or relevant science.
• UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of current environmental legislation and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• High literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Proactive approach and commitment to development.
• ADR and FLT licenses desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess, list, package and label hazardous waste streams, including sampling and drum inspection at customer sites.
• Safely collect and transport hazardous waste in accordance with regulations and procedures.
• Generate transport documentation, safety data, and quotes using IT systems.
• Handle waste transfer operations including pumping, decanting, and re-drumming of containers.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety regulations, COSHH, and dangerous goods transport requirements.
• Manage inventory levels and assist with spillage clearance.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to customers and colleagues.
• Foster positive customer relationships and adhere to site rules.

What you'll be doing;

What we're looking for;

• A degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a relevant scientific discipline
• A valid UK driving licence
• Demonstrable knowledge of current environmental legislation and regulations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and customers
• A high standard of literacy and numeracy
• The ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently on own initiative
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement effective solutions
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with a commitment to continuous professional development
• Additional ADR and FLT license highly desirable
