Job summary

Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital is seeking a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse (Bank) to join the Oncology Unit on an ad‑hoc, part‑time basis. You will administer chemotherapy, monitor patients, and work with the oncology team to deliver patient‑centered care.

The role requires current NMC registration with post‑registration oncology experience, SACT Passport, and a flexible schedule. Benefits include holiday pay, pension, and discounted gym membership.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current registration (NMC) and post-registration oncology experience.
• SACT Passport or equivalent competency required.
• Must be flexible and able to commit to at least one day per week.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy per prescribed protocols with SACT Passport.
• Monitor and assess patients during and after chemotherapy sessions.
• Collaborate with oncologists to plan individualized patient care.
• Educate patients and families on procedures, side effects and self-care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and progress notes.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.

Up to £25 per hour depending on skills and experience

As a Chemotherapy Staff Nurseon our Oncology Unit at Guildford Hospital, you’ll drive the standard in patient care. You’re registered with the appropriate governing body, plus you bring the qualifications and experience that are relevant to your registration, including NMC. You also have post-registration experience.

As a Chemotherapy Staff Nurse, you will:

• Be flexible, motivated, an excellent communicator and team worker. You need to be available at least one day a week.

• Administer chemotherapy treatments to patients according to prescribed protocols with a valid SACT Passport.

• Monitor and assess patients during and after chemotherapy sessions, ensuring their well-being.

• Collaborate with oncologists and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

• Educate patients and their families on chemotherapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.

• Provide emotional support to patients and families coping with the challenges of cancer treatment.
