Job summary

THH Recruitment is seeking a Mixing Shed Operator for a chemical production role based in the United Kingdom. The role requires adherence to health and safety practices, COSHH awareness, and the ability to work with trained equipment.

You will contribute to daily production targets, maintain clean work areas, and assist in training new staff while following SOPs and quality checks. Training and PPE are provided, with emphasis on safe handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and understand basic English.
• Knowledge of mathematics.
• Able to understand and follow SOP instructions.
• Use equipment safely and only if trained to do so.

Responsibilities

• Work in accordance with the Departmental General Risk Assessment (GRA).
• Ensure all stops, guards and safety features of machinery are functioning and checked.
• Only handle chemicals you have been trained to use.
• Follow the written procedures in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
• Offload raw materials safely and store materials correctly.
• Ensure materials and products are clearly identifiable.
• Follow quality checks as specified in the SOP.
• Ensure correct use, storage and cleaning of PPE.
• Report any accident, incident or near miss to a Team Leader/ Shift Manager.
• Fill in paperwork accurately at start, during and end of shift.
• Assist in training of new production staff or agency personnel.

Job Role

The main purpose of the Mixing Shed Operator is to make products safely, correctly and on time.

The operator must:

• To ensure all Health and Safety procedures & standards are always adhered to.
• Location and how to view specific COSHH assessments on the network
• Understand the hazards, risks and controls of the substances being handled
• Actively reduce waste and reduce or eliminate any risks of contamination to the working area and the environment.
• To ensure all Quality procedures & standards are always adhered to.
• Help achieve daily production targets.
• Any other reasonable duties requested by the management.

MAIN DUTIES:

• To work in accordance with the Departmental General Risk Assessment (GRA).
• Ensure all stops, guards and safety features of the machinery used are functioning and checked.
• To only handle/work with chemical you have been trained to use.
• To follow the written procedures as set out in Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
• Offload raw materials safely and store materials in the correct place.
• To ensure all materials and products are always clearly identifiable.
• Follow quality checks as specified in the S.O.P.
• Ensure correct use, storage and cleaning of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• To report any accident, incident or near miss to a Team Leader/ Shift Manager.
• To be able to fill in any paperwork accurately and correctly at the beginning, during and at the end of the job and shift.
• To assist in training of new production staff or agency personnel when working on the same task.
• Keep always working area clean and tidy.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• To be able to read, write and understand basic English.

HEALTH& SAFETY OBLIGATIONS:

• Employees must follow company safety procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and other relevant instructions.
• Understand the risks of the chemicals and materials you handle.
• All employees are responsible and accountable for their own and others Health and Safety as signed for in the written General Risk Assessment Declaration and other company procedures.

The hours for this role are a rotating 6am-2pm AND 2pm-10pm shift, you MUST be able to work both shifts, please do not apply if you cannot work both shifts
