Job summary

Schneider Electric UK is seeking a Laboratory Quality Technician to monitor chemical parameters, perform routine tests, and support quality improvements in a manufacturing environment.

You will ensure COSHH compliance, document results, and participate in continuous improvement while following procedures and safety standards. A GCSEs baseline and relevant experience are required, with a comprehensive Total Rewards package offered.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including Mathematics, English and Science.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory or chemical process environment.
  • Understanding of basic chemical testing techniques.
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures and maintain records.
  • Awareness of safe chemical handling practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for the powder coating pre-treatment process to ensure consistent coating performance and corrosion protection.
  • Monitor and control chemical baths to ensure compliance with process specifications and product requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for an automated resin filling machine to ensure process stability.
  • Carry out routine chemical additions and bath adjustments as required.
  • Support investigation and resolution of process-related quality issues.
  • Record, analyse and report test results; identify deviations and escalate as needed.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for quality defects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to Schneider Electric quality standards and procedures.

Job description

Chemical Process Control
  • Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for the powder coating pre-treatment process to ensure consistent coating performance and corrosion protection.
  • Monitor and control chemical baths associated with the Tin-plating line to ensure compliance with process specifications and product requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical parameters for an automated chemical resin filling machine to ensure process stability.
  • Carry out routine chemical additions and bath adjustments as required.
  • Support investigation and resolution of process-related quality issues.
Laboratory Testing

Perform routine laboratory and process checks including:

  • Chemical concentration analysis
  • pH measurement
  • Conductivity testing
  • Temperature monitoring
  • Chemical titrations
  • Bath condition monitoring
Quality Support
  • Accurately record, analyse and report test results.
  • Identify process deviations and elevate concerns promptly.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for quality defects.
  • Assist with process capability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Schneider Electric quality standards and procedures.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • Follow all Schneider Electric health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Handle chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH regulations and site procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.
  • Support environmental compliance through proper chemical and waste management practices.
Continuous Learning and Development
  • Develop knowledge of additional quality inspection and testing methods.
  • Support wider quality laboratory activities as required.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Contribute to Schneider Electric's culture of operational excellence and sustainability.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics, English and Science.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory or chemical process environment.
  • Understanding of basic chemical testing techniques.
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures and maintain records.
  • Awareness of safe chemical handling practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
  • Qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience of powder coating pre-treatment systems.
  • Experience of electroplating or Tin-plating processes.
  • Knowledge of chemical titration techniques.

For this UK based position, the expected pay range is GBP 30,400 - GBP 45,600 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United Kingdom. Our pay ranges are determined by the local market.
