Eden Brown Synergy is seeking a Chef Trainer/Supervisor to lead practical kitchen sessions in Greater Manchester. You will supervise trainee chefs, demonstrate advanced cookery techniques and coach learners to meet industry standards.

A DBS check is required for this role and you will work in a supportive FE environment. The role involves hands-on support in professional training kitchens, ensuring students receive high-quality practical training while maintaining safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Experienced chef or catering professional in a commercial kitchen.
  • Strong culinary techniques and modern catering practices.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support trainee chef students during practical kitchen sessions.

Job description

Role: Chef Trainer/Supervisor

Location: Greater Manchester

Rate: 25 - 35 per hour

Contract: Temporary, Full Time

Hours: 36 hours per week

Eden Brown are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chef Trainer to join a leading Further Education team in Greater Manchester.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising, supporting and training trainee chefs, helping students to develop the practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours required for a successful career within the hospitality and catering industry.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide hands-on support within our professional training kitchens, ensuring students receive a high standard of practical training and guidance in a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support trainee chef students during practical kitchen sessions.
  • Demonstrate professional cookery techniques, preparation methods and kitchen procedures.
  • Provide practical coaching and guidance to help students develop their culinary skills.
  • Support students in working to professional industry standards.
  • Monitor students progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Promote good standards of food hygiene, health and safety and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Ensure students follow appropriate food safety, allergen and hygiene procedures.
  • Assist teaching staff with the planning and delivery of practical training activities.
  • Help maintain a well-organised, professional and safe training kitchen.
  • Encourage positive attitudes, teamwork, professionalism and good work practices.
  • Support students with different abilities and levels of experience to achieve their learning goals.
  • Contribute to the wider development and success of the catering and hospitality provision.
About You
  • You will be an experienced chef or catering professional with a genuine interest in developing the next generation of hospitality professionals.

You should have:

  • Professional experience working in a commercial or professional kitchen.
  • Strong practical culinary skills and knowledge of modern catering practices.
  • A good understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to demonstrate and explain practical cooking techniques clearly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The patience and enthusiasm to support learners in a Further Education environment.
  • The ability to motivate and encourage students from a range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • A professional, positive and approachable manner.
  • Good organisational and teamwork skills.

A recognised teaching, training, coaching or assessing qualification would be advantageous, although relevant industry experience and a strong commitment to supporting learners are equally valued.
