Job description

Full training and support will be given to Trainee candidates to achieve the Assessor award.

Must be flexible with travel throughout Colchester, Ipswich and surrounding areas. You must have organisational skills, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively. Must be professional as well as confident with the ability to inspire and motivate your learners.

Your duties will include:

• Delivering full Apprenticeship qualifications in Hospitality at levels 2 and 3 (Standards), specialising in Back of House: Production Chef and Commis Chef.
• Delivering via a blended learning approach (Remote/online delivery and some face-to-face learning).
• Delivering Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2.
• Managing your diary efficiently to ensure timely visits and reviews are conducted.
• Organise and maintain documentation on learners’ progress.
• Support, advise and motivate learners.
• Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learners’ needs.
• Meet Assessor KPIs in terms of timely visits, quality paperwork and general administration.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Must hold strongoccupational competency as a Chef within a high-end establishment (e.g. Head Chef; Sous Chef; Chef de Partie)
• Must have experience in food preparation, cooking and finishing across a substantial range of fresh and seasonal dishes.
• Hold your own NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery.
• Must be confident to support learners’ Maths and English Functional Skills.
• Must be IT literate.
• Full driving licence and use of own vehicle.

PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE

To be an Assessor you would need to hold either an; A1/2, D32/33, or CAVA which we have a link to HERE . Similarly so, to be a FE practitioner, in other words, a Trainer, you should hold at a minimum the AET (Level 3 Award in Education and Training). The position does not ask for these so do not feel deterred to apply if you do not possess them. However, it is in our professional opinion you need to have either qualification before applying.
