Job summary

Ark Alexandra Academy in Hastings is seeking a Chef Supervisor to join our catering team. You will prepare, cook and present meals meeting school standards under the Operations Manager’s direction, while supervising staff and maintaining cleanliness across all kitchen and dining areas.

The role is term-time plus two weeks, permanent, with a pro rata salary in the Ark Outside London scale and a progression path within Ark’s network. Interviews may occur before the closing date.

  Chef Supervisor

  Start date: As soon as possible

  Location: Ark Alexandra Academy, Hastings, East Sussex

  Salary: Ark Outside London Support Scale 5, points 5 - 12: £25,583 to £28,598 (pro rata)

  Actual Starting Salary: £24,741.32 Pay is spread evenly over 12 months.

  Hours: 7.00am – 3.45pm Mon to Fri (this includes a 1 hour or 2 x 30 - minute unpaid breaks each day) 38.5 hours per week, term time only plus 2 extra weeks to be worked in the school holidays.

  Contract: Permanent

  Due to a change in circumstances, the opportunity has become available again to join our hard-working, dedicated catering team in our growing academy. As Chef Supervisor you will be based at one of our two campuses under the direction of our Operations Manager. This is a term time only position, which means you will only work 39 weeks of the year, plus two extra weeks in the school holidays as directed by your manager. Pay is spread evenly over the year so you would never have a month without money.

  As the Chef Supervisor you will prepare, cook, and present food which meets the school standards and according to the Operations Manager direction. You will also be responsible for supervising the catering team and ensure high levels of food preparation and kitchen cleanliness is maintained across all kitchen and dining areas as well as ensuring a high standard of catering service is provided.

  Our standards are high and meals are prepared daily from fresh ingredients. We need someone who can work quickly and safely, be part of a team and has the confidence to interact with staff and students.
