Job description

Position: Chef Manager at Magnox Hinkley

Location: Magnox Hinkley

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Monday-Thursday, 10 hours per day

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the smooth operation of breakfast (7:30-9:00 AM) and lunch service (11:30 AM-1:00 PM), including preparing and presenting a variety of menu options such as hot snacks, daily mains with vegetarian options, jacket potatoes, chips, sandwiches, a salad bar, and homemade cakes, serving approximately 300-400 customers daily.
  2. Develop and update appealing menus, manage food stock effectively, handle ordering, and minimize waste to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
  3. Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety regulations, adhering to internal policies and legal standards.
  4. Manage a team of four staff members, including one chef and three catering assistants, overseeing training, rota planning, holiday scheduling, and performance management.
  5. Take responsibility for the catering unit's finances, including budgeting, cost control, pricing, and reporting, to ensure profitability and alignment with company goals.
  6. Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client, maintaining strong relationships and providing regular updates to the Mitie Facilities Manager to meet service expectations.
