Job summary

Sodexo Group in Tingley is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to lead a busy catering operation. You will supervise the team during service, maintain high standards of food quality and safety, and manage menus, stock and records.

The role focuses on staff development, client satisfaction and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has catering leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Chef Manager, Chef Supervisor or similar catering leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and health & safety.
• Experience supervising and motivating a catering team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and make decisions during busy service periods.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• A relevant catering qualification or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, HND or similar.
• Intermediate Food Safety qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily catering operation and lead the team during service.
• Supervise, support and motivate catering staff.
• Maintain strong client and customer relationships.
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked, stored and served in line with food safety standards.
• Manage menus, recipes and portion control.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure records are completed accurately.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, waste and food costs.
• Complete regular stock takes and financial reporting.
• Ensure opening, closing and handover procedures are followed.
• Attend team briefings, meetings and training as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised working environment.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork and records are completed accurately and on time.
• Identify and report service, safety or performance issues to management.
• Support the wider catering operation as required.
