Job summary

Sodexo in Prestwick is hiring a Catering Assistant to work 36 hours per week across Monday–Thursday 07:30–15:30 and Friday 07:30–13:30. You will assist in food prep, service, and maintaining high hygiene and customer standards in a busy catering environment.

You’ll be part of a team delivering friendly service, with opportunities for career development and access to Sodexo employee benefits. Previous catering experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of food and beverages.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads and other food items for service.
• Set up and maintain hot counters, salad bars and service areas.
• Serve food, tea, coffee and refreshments to customers.
• Provide friendly, efficient and professional service throughout the day.
• Operate the till and process customer transactions during service.
• Ensure food is presented attractively and maintained to high standards.
• Replenish counters and service areas during service.
• Check deliveries and complete food temperature checks and records.
• Keep areas clean, tidy and well stocked.
• Wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and equipment.
• Clean and replenish catering areas according to schedules.
• Report safety concerns promptly.
• Support special functions and other catering operations as required.

What you'll do:

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of food and beverages.

• Serve food, tea, coffee and refreshments to customers.

• Replenish counters, chillers and service areas throughout service.
• Check deliveries and complete required food temperature checks and records.
• Keep tables, counters and customer areas clean, tidy and well stocked.
• Wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and catering equipment.
• Complete general kitchen and catering‑area cleaning in line with cleaning schedules.
• Clean and replenish vending machines where required.
• Follow all Food Safety, Health & Safety, hygiene and COSHH procedures.
• Complete relevant food safety and service documentation.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents or near misses promptly.
• Support special functions and other areas of the catering operation when required.

Previous catering or food service experience would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Food Safety training or certification would also be advantageous.
