Job description

Morgan Hunt is working with a fantastic college in the East London area. We are seeking to appoint a talented, highly motivated, and enthusiastic Chef Lecturer to join their team.

Job Title: Chef Lecturer

Location: East London

Hours: Flexible

Start: ASAP or September

Length of contract: Ongoing

Role Specific

Responsible for the development and delivery of accredited and non-accredited catering courses at pre-entry, entry, and levels 1 & 2.

• Conduct hands-on culinary instruction of students using the existing curriculum
• Develop lesson plans based on the existing curriculum
• Administer written and practical tests
• Document and report each student's ability to comprehend, perform, and retain practical techniques
• Work one-on-one with students to ensure comprehension of lessons and information
• Recruit new and maintain existing relationships with chefs for weekly volunteer opportunities
• Oversee the various ordering, set-up, and cleanup needed for lessons and guest chef presentations

Experience/Qualifications

• Proven experience of teaching and assessing in a college/vocational environment with a recognised teaching qualification e.g., PGCE, DTLLS, or Cert Ed Post 16, or a commitment to work towards
• Hold relevant catering qualifications. Hold a food hygiene certificate at level 2.
• Hold appropriate verification and assessor qualifications up to level 3
• Good working knowledge of catering-related qualifications, awarding body procedures, and the ability to match resources to learner needs
• Excellent organisational, computer, and written skills
• Good assessment and diagnostic skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Willing to undergo training as part of an agreed performance review system
• Positive attitude to equality and diversity, with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to all learners
