Job summary

Watergate Bay Hotel in the United Kingdom offers a Chef Development Programme. This 12-month apprenticeship runs 40 hours per week over five days, with one day a week at Truro and Penwith College and four days in the hotel kitchens.

You’ll rotate through four kitchens, including Zacry’s, and work toward a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. You’ll learn from experienced chefs, build practical skills, and gain confidence in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• No previous professional kitchen experience is necessary; enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
• Interest in ingredients and where they come from.
• Positive, hardworking attitude and ability to work in a busy kitchen.
• Commitment to food safety, cleanliness and high standards.

Responsibilities

• Take part in training and learn from chefs across the kitchens.
• Work under the Head Chef within the wider kitchen team.
• Handle a mix of day and evening shifts, including weekends.
• Prepare ingredients and assist with cooking and presentation.
• Develop knife skills and knowledge of ingredients.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy, and hygienic.
• Move between kitchens to gain a broad range of experience.
• Listen to feedback and continually look for improvement.
