Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Chef De Partie to join our hotel kitchen brigade, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation and consistently delivering a high-quality guest experience for Partners and their guests.

You will support the Head and Sous Chef, train junior chefs, manage food orders and stock, uphold stringent hygiene and safety standards, and contribute to sales by equipping the front-of-house team with knowledge to upsell and present dishes with exceptional flair.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional chef qualifications such as City & Guilds diplomas or equivalent.
• Ability to train and give clear feedback to kitchen/front-of-house staff.
• Ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment with hygiene standards.
• Ability to foster mutual trust and respect within the team.
• Decisive, quick decision-making to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head and Sous Chef to plan and deliver a food offer that aligns with current trends and customer demand, maintaining exceptional presentation standards.
• Train and develop junior chefs and kitchen porters, including specialized skills like fishmongery and butchery.
• Ensure all legislative requirements are met, including allergen management, food safety policies, and health & safety standards.
• Conduct daily compliance checks (fridge temperatures, cleaning schedules, and PPE) and take charge of kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs.
• Help achieve sales targets by managing food availability and upselling to front-of-house teams.
• Manage food orders with accuracy to minimise wastage and maximise profit margins.
• Represent the Partnership by providing an outstanding experience for guests and Partners.
