Job summary

Chestnut is seeking a Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at The Packhorse Inn in Newmarket. We champion fresh, locally sourced ingredients and seasonal creativity, delivering dishes that reflect quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking.

The role involves day-to-day kitchen operations, supporting your section, contributing ideas, and helping deliver consistent, high‑quality dishes in a busy, rewarding environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a kitchen role is desirable.
  • Strong focus on fresh, local produce and high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present dishes to Chestnut standards.
  • Support menu prep and seasonal updates.
  • Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Keep section organised, clean and efficient.
  • Work with kitchen team to deliver busy services.
  • Guide junior team members where needed.

Chef de Partie

We’re looking for a Chef de Partie to join our fantastic kitchen team. We champion fresh, locally sourced ingredients, seasonal creativity and dishes that showcase quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking.

The Packhorse Inn holds a special place in the Chestnut story as the property where it all began. Located in Newmarket, it has long been known as a welcoming, food‑led inn with a strong connection to its local community. Blending traditional character with a lively, relaxed atmosphere, it offers both dining and guest rooms, making it a familiar and much‑loved place for locals and visitors alike.

What You’ll Be Doing…

As Chef de Partie, you’ll play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen — supporting your section, contributing ideas and helping deliver consistent, high‑quality dishes.

You’ll:

  • Prepare, cook and present dishes to Chestnut standards
  • Support with menu prep and seasonal updates
  • Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards
  • Keep your section organised, clean and efficient
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver smooth, busy services
  • Help train and guide junior team members where needed
