Job summary

The Royal British Legion is seeking a qualified Chef to join our care home team at Lister House in Ripon, North Yorkshire. You will help prepare, produce and deliver nutritious, well-presented dishes to residents, staff and visitors.

This casual position offers flexible hours to suit both your availability and the care home's needs. Prior care home catering exposure and City & Guilds Food Preparation qualifications are beneficial.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706 (1&2) Food Preparation or equivalent.
• Intermediary food hygiene certificate.
• Excellent communication skills; previous care home catering experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver catering services in the care home with Head Chef.
• Prepare food for residents according to nutrition and dietary guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of food provision and service for residents, staff and visitors.
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
• Ensure health and safety records comply with statutory requirements.

Job description

We are looking for a qualified Chef to join our dedicated care home team where your culinary skills will help enhance the wellbeing of our residents. You'll be responsible for preparing, producing and delivering delicious, nutritious and beautifully presented dishes.

This is a casual position, offering flexible hours to suit both your availability and the needs of the care home.

Pay: £14.49 to £15.06 per hour (inclusive of 75p per hour market supplement)

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Work with the Head Chef to deliver the catering services within the care home
• Prepare food for residents according to nutrition, hydration, and dietary guidelines
• Maintain a high standard of food provision and service to the residents, staff and visitors
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
• Ensure all health and safety records and monitoring adhere to statutory requirements

As a Chef, you will have a City & Guilds 706 (1&2) Food Preparation or equivalent and an intermediary food hygiene certificate.

In addition, you will have excellent communication skills. Previous experience of maintaining standards within a catering department according to Health & Safety and Food Safety Act and good IT skills are essential, as well as experience working in a care home or similar setting.
