Job description

Chef Somerset
Contract: Part Time, Permanent
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Hours: 24 per week

A co-educational independent day and boarding school in Wellington, Somerset, for pupils aged 3 to 18. Catering for 800 students and teachers with 220 boarders. We offer a core feeding of breakfast club, mid-morning snack, lunch, after-school clubs, dinner, house supplies, and boarding treats. This is a term-time plus contract working 47 weeks a year. There is a significant amount of hospitality at this location. The operation runs 7 days a week, with a working pattern of 4 days out of 7.

We are seeking a talented Chef to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Somerset.

You should have previous experience working in a fast-paced environment and be excited to work with fresh seasonal ingredients and regularly changing bespoke menus. Creativity and skill showcase opportunities are available.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work well in a team of chefs providing catering services to pupils and teachers
  • Produce food for service using fresh ingredients, cooking from scratch, and following company standards
  • Ensure adherence to food standards and control wastage
  • Follow all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety policies, and allergen control procedures

Required skills:

  • Genuine interest in food and excellent customer service
  • Team player
  • Passion for great food and innovation
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Understanding of food costs and wastage

Knowledge / competencies:

  • Good understanding and use of verbal English
  • Good standard of written English and reading skills
  • Experience in customer service or food preparation preferred
