Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment are actively recruiting experienced Education Chefs for the new school year starting in September, across schools in the Colchester area.

This role offers term-time work, competitive pay, weekly pay and weekends off, with the potential for permanent roles. Applicants must have Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain) and the right to work in the UK; strong communication and a passion for nutritious school meals are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience as senior Chef – preferably in a school or similar environment.
• Right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for these roles.
• Enhanced DBS with child workforce or willing to obtain is essential.
• Strong, reliable, and excellent communication skills are essential.
• A passion for providing healthy meals for children and young people.
• Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens, as well as additional compliance training, is essential and will be provided free of charge for all applicants.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff.
• Planning menus in line with school guidelines and dietary requirements.
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
• Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants during service.
• Adhering to all food safety and health & safety regulations.
