Job summary

Sodexo at St Davids Barracks in Bicester is seeking a professional chef to join a team delivering meals to military personnel.

You will cook in batches, manage large quantities, follow safety procedures, and support events. This role offers 37 hours per week, £16.74 per hour, and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Batch cooking experience in a kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and HACCP.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage time.
• Proven culinary qualifications (City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for the Armed Forces community.

• Put food safety first – Follow food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.
• Work as one team – Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues to deliver a welcoming, efficient service.

What you’ll bring

• Professional chef experience, including proven experience of batch cooking and preparing meals in large quantities.
• Recognised culinary qualifications, such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• The ability to manage your workload and maintain high standards during busy services.
• A positive, practical approach and a willingness to support your colleagues.
• A passion for good food and pride in delivering meals people enjoy.

It would also be great if you have:

• Experience in military or government catering.
• An IOSH qualification or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
