About the role:

What if your next role helped make sure every prescription is right, every time?

As a Checking Technician, you’ll play a vital role in making sure our patients receive their medicines safely and accurately. Using your pharmacy knowledge and professional judgement, you’ll carry out final accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions, making sure the medication, labelling, dosage and patient information are correct before they reach the patient.

It’s a role where your attention to detail really matters. You’ll review prescriptions, identify and resolve anomalies, check medicines against pharmacy and regulatory requirements, and work closely with colleagues and prescribers to make sure any concerns are addressed safely and efficiently.

Alongside checking prescriptions, you’ll support the wider pharmacy team by maintaining high standards of quality and safety, helping with stock management and providing guidance on the safe and effective use of prescribed medicines. You’ll also play an important part in maintaining patient confidentiality and creating a professional, organised pharmacy environment.

About You
Someone who takes pride in getting every detail right

This is a role where accuracy, professional judgement and a genuine commitment to patient safety go hand in hand.

You’ll understand that every prescription you check matters. Whether you're carrying out final accuracy checks, identifying potential issues or working with colleagues and prescribers to resolve queries, you'll take pride in making sure patients receive their medication safely and accurately.

You’ll be confident using your pharmacy knowledge and professional judgement, while also being someone who works well with others, communicates clearly and remains calm and professional in a busy environment. You'll care about doing things right and understand the importance of maintaining high standards of confidentiality, quality and patient care.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and patient safety.
  • Good pharmacy knowledge and professional judgement, with the confidence to identify and resolve prescription anomalies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, patients, customers and healthcare professionals.
  • A professional and caring approach, with a clear understanding of confidentiality and the importance of protecting patient information.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage your responsibilities effectively in a busy pharmacy environment.
  • A proactive attitude and commitment to ongoing learning, development and maintaining professional standards.

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you already hold a GPhC-recognised Accuracy Checking Technician qualification and are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

We're looking for someone who understands that being a Checking Technician is about more than checking prescriptions. It's about using your knowledge, experience and attention to detail to help keep patients safe and support the delivery of a high-quality pharmacy service every day.

Benefits that help you grow

Alongside the opportunity to use your pharmacy expertise to make a genuine difference to patients and your local community, you'll receive a benefits package that's just as rewarding:

  • 30 days' annual leave (pro rata), including bank holidays.
  • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions.
  • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
  • An annual discretionary colleague bonus in recognition of your contribution.

We're also proud to be an Investors in People Platinum employer, recognising our commitment to helping colleagues learn, develop and build rewarding careers. Whether you're looking to continue developing your pharmacy expertise or take the next step in your career, we'll support you with ongoing training and opportunities to grow within Lincolnshire Co-op.

Ready to make every prescription count?

If you're passionate about accuracy, patient safety and delivering high standards of pharmacy care, we'd love to hear from you.
