Job summary

Chassis Dyno Engineer required at the APRL facility, University of Warwick, Warwickshire. The role involves end‑to‑end chassis dynamometer testing, ensuring safety, accuracy and high standards across conventional and electrified powertrains.

Reporting to the Test Preparation Engineer, you will perform vehicle check‑in, installation and test cycles, collaborating with engineers and customers. The position offers exposure to cutting‑edge emissions development, hands‑on instrumentation work and

Qualifications

  • Experience operating a chassis dynamometer or engine test facility.
  • Experience with vehicle installation, preparation and test execution.
  • Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and sensor installation.
  • Experience with thermocouples, emissions measurement systems and data acquisition equipment.
  • Knowledge of test control and data acquisition systems such as AVL PUMA, AVL CAMEO, ETAS INCA or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of emissions testing procedures and data quality checks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on engineering skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
  • Experience working within ISO‑controlled or audited environments.
  • Good understanding of vehicle systems and powertrain technologies, including internal combustion engines, hybrid vehicles and electrified powertrains.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver testing activities to agreed customer and programme schedules.
  • Maximise facility utilisation and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and support preventative maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Lead Engineers and customers to understand technical requirements and test objectives.
  • Support a safe, clean and efficient testing environment at all times.
