Job summary

Contechs is recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM, based in Gaydon, for a Chassis Dyno Engineer to join on a rolling contract. The role involves hands-on operation of the chassis dynamometer at the APRL facility, Warwick University, with end-to-end testing responsibilities and liaison with internal and external teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating chassis dynamometers or engine test facilities.
• Experience with vehicle installation, test execution and post-test activities.
• Practical experience with vehicle prep, instrumentation, sensor setup and data acquisition.
• Knowledge of emissions testing procedures and emissions measurement systems.
• Familiarity with test control and data acquisition tools such as AVL, ETAS INCA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end execution of chassis dyno testing activities.
• Support operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dynamometer at APRL facility.
• Troubleshoot test setups, instrumentation faults and basic facility issues.

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive OEM based in Gaydon who are seeking a Chassis Dyno Engineer to join their team on a rolling contract basis working 40 hours per week

Job Description

• This role provides a hands‑on opportunity to support the operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dynamometer at the APRL facility, based at Warwick University.
• Reporting to the Test Preparation Engineer, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end execution of chassis dyno testing activities
• Experience in chassis dynamometer or engine test facility operation, including vehicle installation, test execution, and post‑test activities
• Practical experience with vehicle preparation and instrumentation, including sensor setup, thermocouples, emissions measurement systems, and data acquisition
• Familiarity with test control and data acquisition tools such as AVL (PUMA, CAMEO), ETAS INCA, or equivalent systems
• Understanding of emissions testing procedures, including bag emissions systems
• Strong hands‑on capability with mechanical systems, including vehicle handling, strapping, and dyno setup
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and compliance with H&S, ISO, and audit requirements
• Ability to operate within a structured test environment, following defined processes and standards
• Capability to support troubleshooting of test setups, basic facility issues, and instrumentation faults
• Good understanding of vehicle systems and powertrain operation in an ICE and/or electrified environment
• It is understood that a single individual with a comprehensive understanding of the above is unlikely, the laboratory will work with a number of internal and external parties to develop both the individuals and the whole team capability, with the objective of developing a diverse and dynamic team
