Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP is seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer to join the Expert Witness Advisory Services (EWAS). The role focuses on analysing buildings, contract documents and technical information to identify root causes of construction disputes.

While prior expert witness experience is helpful, the successful candidate will receive training to handle instructions independently. The position offers flexibility in location with preferred offices in London, Manchester and Birmingham, and

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' professional experience in the construction industry.
• Minimum MEng / MSc qualifications, ideally CEng with MICE and/or MIStructE.
• Additional qualification in construction law is highly desirable.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and common computer analysis and design programmes.
• Strong report writing skills and ability to communicate complex matters clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Expert Witnesses in producing expert reports and evidence.
• Progressing towards acting as an Expert Witness with oral and written evidence to courts or tribunals.
• Reviewing and commenting on expert reports and conducting desktop reviews.
• Providing independent, unbiased expert opinion on defects or non-compliance involving property.
• Investigating issues raised by experts and drafting synopses and design calculations to relevant standards.
