Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Chartered Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Building Engineering Team in London on a permanent basis. You will lead mechanical building services design across rail, residential, commercial and infrastructure projects from feasibility to practical completion.

You will develop system strategies, oversee energy modelling and drive sustainable design while mentoring others and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status with relevant mechanical or building services experience.
• Strong mechanical design and technical delivery skills.
• Experience working in multi-professional design teams.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical systems and building services.
• Experience leading energy modelling, preferably IES.
• Knowledge of energy performance, carbon reduction and retrofit solutions.
• Creative and inquisitive approach with interest in integrating beyond mechanical discipline.
• Strong commercial awareness including resource planning.
• Interest in digital tools to improve workflows.
• Excellent communication, coordination, leadership and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across complex UK and international projects.
• Developing mechanical system strategies and contributing to design decisions from project inception to completion.
• Directing comfort and thermal analysis for buildings and occupied spaces.
• Supervising the spatial and technical coordination of building services and their integration into wider designs.
• Managing the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications to budgets and deadlines.
• Supervising and coordinating the work of colleagues, external disciplines and in-house specialists.
• Supporting sustainable building design, including energy efficiency, carbon reduction and decarbonisation strategies.
• Providing guidance, training and constructive feedback to support the development of others.
