Job summary

Wilde Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join our Building Structures team in a senior capacity. The role supports hybrid working from Liverpool or Stockport and offers a clear path to Associate Director for the right candidate.

You will lead diverse structural projects, mentor engineers, manage budgets and schedules, and nurture client relationships while helping shape the future of the team.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE is required.
  • Significant experience in structural engineering consultancy (15+ years expected).
  • Broad background in design and delivery of building structures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards.
  • Experience leading projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong technical, commercial and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability in technical report writing.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and developing a growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review feasibility studies, concept designs, scheme reports and detailed design calculations.
  • Produce and review contract documentation and specifications.

  • Support business development and securing new work.
  • Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Directors to grow the Building Structures division and company.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join our growing Building Structures team, based in either our Liverpool or Stockport office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically accomplished and commercially aware engineer looking to play a key role in the continued growth of our Building Structures division, with a clear pathway to Associate Director for the right individual.

Our Building Structures team delivers a diverse portfolio of projects across the public and private sectors, working collaboratively across both offices. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading project delivery, supporting the development of the team and strengthening client relationships.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys leading projects, mentoring engineers, developing business opportunities and helping shape the future direction of the team and the business.

The Role

You will lead the delivery of a wide variety of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion, working closely with the Building Structures Director and collaborating with colleagues across both the Liverpool and Stockport offices.

The role combines technical excellence with leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, support the growth of the team and contribute to the strategic development of the business.

For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into an Associate Director position.

Key Responsibilities

About You

We are looking for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer who combines technical excellence with leadership potential.

You will have:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE or IStructE.
  • Significant experience within a structural engineering consultancy (typically 15+ years, although exceptional candidates with slightly less experience will also be considered).
  • A broad background in the design and delivery of building structures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Eurocodes and current UK design standards.
  • Experience leading projects from inception through to completion.
  • Strong technical, commercial and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability in technical report writing.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers.
  • A proactive approach with the ambition to take on increasing responsibility and help shape a growing team.
