Job summary

Bimplus, a Bristol-based independent construction consultancy, seeks a Chartered Building Surveyor to lead professional services and project work with a clear path to senior responsibility. You’ll work across commercial, heritage, residential and hospitality sectors, building strong client relationships and mentoring junior staff.

You will focus on professional services, refurbishment projects, and neighbourly matters, maintaining close client contact while coordinating with surveying, PM, cost

Qualifications

• MRICS qualification is required.
• A Building Surveying degree is required.
• Experience in a construction consultancy is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to manage multiple client priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initial advice through to completion.
• Act as Contract Administrator and Project Manager.
• Prepare specifications, tenders and technical reports.
• Undertake surveys, defect analysis and due diligence.
• Manage client communication and project reporting.
• Coordinate internal and external consultant teams.
• Deliver dilapidations and planned maintenance advice.
• Support fee proposals and repeat business.
• Mentor junior staff where appropriate.

Job description

A Bristol consultancy is offering a Chartered Building Surveyor the autonomy of a smaller practice, the variety of a broad client base and a clear route to more senior responsibility.

The successful Chartered Building Surveyor will join an independent construction consultancy working across commercial, heritage, residential and hospitality. The practice has built its reputation through senior-level advice and repeat clients, offering the breadth of interesting work without the layers and internal competition often found in a corporate environment.

The Chartered Building Surveyor Role

The Chartered Building Surveyor will focus on professional services, refurbishment projects and neighbourly matters, managing instructions from initial brief through to completion. You will remain close to clients and delivery, working with colleagues across surveying, project management, cost consultancy and design where the instruction requires it.

The position provides a balanced mix of project and professional work, allowing the Chartered Building Surveyor to deepen technical expertise while taking increasing ownership of clients, fees and project outcomes.

Duties of the Chartered Building Surveyor to include:

The Person?

The successful Chartered Building Surveyor will be technically confident, commercially aware and capable of managing clients and competing priorities with limited supervision.

The Chartered Building Surveyor will ideally have:

• MRICS qualification
• A relevant Building Surveying degree
• Construction consultancy experience
• Strong project and professional services knowledge
• Confident written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage clients and consultant teams
• Sound JCT contract knowledge
• Ability to develop client relationships
• A practical and collaborative approach
