Job summary

London Wildlife Trust is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance team on a hybrid basis. You will lead monthly management accounts, partner with budget holders, manage restricted funds, and support annual budgeting and forecasting to enable responsible financial planning.

You'll work with colleagues across the charity to ensure transparent reporting, sound financial controls, and effective decision-making to support our conservation aims in London.

Qualifications

• Qualified/ finalist accountant (ACCA/ CIMA/ equiv.)
• Experience working in finance teams within a charity environment
• Extensive business partnering experience
• Understanding of the SORP and experience of managing restricted funds
• Excellent analytical skills and strong technical financial knowledge

Responsibilities

• Turn numbers into insight: Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and deliver clear, timely reporting that helps us understand our financial performance.
• Be a trusted business partner: Work closely with departmental Heads and project leads, leading finance review meetings and helping teams understand budgets, variances and financial risks.
• Make every pound count: Oversee restricted funds, ensuring funding is tracked accurately and spent in line with donor requirements and project budgets.
• Support our financial planning: Help shape annual budgets and forecasts, maintain our cash flow forecast and provide the financial insight we need to plan for the future.
• Help us secure funding for nature: Provide financial information for donor reports and work with our fundraising team to develop budgets for funding bids.
• Drive commercial performance: Analyse the performance of our trading operations, London Wildlife Limited, identifying opportunities to improve financial outcomes.
• Improve how we work: Develop and enhance our financial reporting systems, making information more accessible, useful and effective for decision-making.
• Build connections across the charity: Develop strong working relationships across teams, provide ad hoc financial analysis and collaborate with colleagues across the Finance team.
