Job summary

You will be a qualified accountant with charity finance expertise (UK regulation knowledge) and at least three years senior experience, driving improvements in processes and accuracy across the finance

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant or equivalent experience with knowledge of charity finance and UK regulations
• At least three years' senior finance experience with strong understanding of Charities SORP (FRS 102) and UK financial reporting requirements
• Experience of setting and monitoring budgets
• Experience implementing change
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Teams)
• Logical, methodical and solutions-focused approach
• Excellent organisational skills; ability to prioritise deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and big-picture financial thinking
• Ability to work independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Lead on financial accounting, financial controls, Charity SORP compliance and statutory reporting
• Prepare statutory accounts and manage the annual external audit
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Support monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts
• Monitor and analyse financial performance for risks and opportunities
• Provide clear financial guidance to budget holders and managers
• Oversee income and expenditure processes with accurate recording
• Lead improvements to finance processes, systems and controls
• Manage and support finance team including regular one-to-ones and reviews
• Build relationships with colleagues, external service providers and stakeholders
