Job summary

Aureos Infrastructure Services Limited is seeking a skilled Chargehand to oversee a team of site operatives on infrastructure projects. You will act as a working supervisor, bridging the gap between site management and the hands-on workforce, ensuring daily construction activities are carried out safely and to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Direct, motivate and supervise a team of site operatives to meet deadlines.
• Hands-on construction and maintenance tasks when required.
• Enforce health and safety regulations, PPE usage and toolbox talks.
• Monitor workmanship quality against drawings, specs and standards.
• Coordinate materials, tools and plant on-site and report shortages or maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed, hours and delays, and report to Site Manager.

Job Summary

Aureos Infrastructure Services Limited is seeking a skilled and organized Chargehand to oversee and assist a team of operatives on our infrastructure projects. In this role, you will act as a working supervisor, bridging the gap between site management and the hands-on workforce. You will be responsible for ensuring that daily construction and maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervision and Leadership: Direct, motivate, and supervise a team of site operatives, delegating daily tasks and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met.
• Hands-on Assistance: Work alongside the team, performing practical infrastructure construction and maintenance tasks as required.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to company health and safety regulations, ensuring all team members wear appropriate PPE, follow safe working practices, and conduct toolbox talks.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of workmanship, ensuring all completed tasks meet Aureos Infrastructure Services Limited's standards, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Resource Management: Coordinate the efficient use of materials, tools, and plant machinery on-site, and report any equipment maintenance needs or material shortages to the Site Supervisor.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of work completed, labor hours, and any incidents or delays on-site, reporting progress regularly to the Site Manager.

Job Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience working in a supervisory or senior operative capacity (such as a Chargehand or Ganger) within the infrastructure, civil engineering, or construction sectors.
• Technical Skills: Strong practical knowledge of infrastructure works, including groundworks, drainage, pipe laying, or concrete works.
• Certifications: Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is required. SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent safety certification is highly desirable.
• Leadership Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, direct, and resolve conflicts within a physical working environment.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to read construction drawings, interpret site instructions, and resolve practical site issues effectively.
• Driving License: A valid UK driving license is preferred for travel between different site locations.
