The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is seeking a Charge Nurse (Band 6) to support Ward Managers in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within our Specialist Nursing Home. Salary range: £41,489 - 54, 721 per annum (Band 6) - Incremental reviews take place on an annual basis
Contract Type: Permanent, Fulltime
Hours of work: 150 hours over a 4 week period (approximately 37.5 hours per week)

Summary Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability

We are seeking a Charge Nurse who can support Ward Managers to help build a confident, high quality and caring team who are experts in their field. You will be responsible for championing and guiding a diverse range of nursing and health care assistant staff whilst working alongside other multi-disciplinary colleagues. Your key responsibility is to deliver a high standard of professional clinical care to patients and residents of the hospital. You will provide support for and deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager.

The Specialist Nursing Home (SNH) service provides person-centred care for adults with complex neuro-disabilities and long-term health needs following brain injury. The service supports residents who may require ongoing care or a short stay while awaiting appropriate discharge to home or a placement closer to their local community.

Care is focused on long-term condition management, maintaining health and wellbeing, and promoting dignity and quality of life within a safe and supportive environment. You will be responsible for assessing residents’ needs and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to support both ongoing care and discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

• You will work within agreed nursing standards and according to Nursing and Midwifery Council Code for nurses and be accountable for nursing outcomes.
• To provide consistent, clear, clinical and professional leadership and act as a mentor and preceptor for all staff demonstrating professional awareness and accountability in care.
• Manage direct reports effectively, delegating appropriately and holding them accountable for the delivery of specific objectives and targets, ensuring they meet the required standards in their current job whilst developing their skills and knowledge.
• Manage Datix and attend regular Incident Review Meetings to present lessoned learned and shared learning’s from the ward.
• Ensure compliance to standards in respect of all legislative requirements, including but not limited to CQC, DSE, Fire, COSHH, BLS, Manual Handling, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Information Security and Infection Prevention & Control.

Compensation Range

£41,489.00 - £54,721.00
