Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Change Practitioner to join the Corporate Change Department. Role Overview

Role: Change Practitioner
Salary: £50,088 - £54,879

Location: Birmingham onsite/hybrid

Change Practitioners play a vital role in driving positive change across West Midlands Police. They focus on preparing and supporting people to adapt to new ways of working, ensuring change is smooth, sustainable, and effective.

The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for driving positive, people-focussed change. They will champion innovative and collaborative approaches working closely with leaders, teams and the change community to successfully deliver and embed change

They should demonstrate the following attributes:
  • Strong ability to connect with others, building trust and working effectively with diverse groups and individuals
  • Communicate clearly and with impact, tailoring messages to different audiences to ensure understanding and engagement
  • Assess the impact of change on people and design strategies to prepare and enable people to transition to new ways of working
  • Identify barriers to change and propose targeted solutions to address challenges and support implementation
  • Provide expert advice and guidance, equipping change leaders and those supporting change with the strategies and tools needed to lead successful transitions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels offering expertise to shape and influence change initiatives
  • Innovate and adapt approaches to meet varying stakeholder needs, while enabling sustainable adoption and embedding of change
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity as part of a collaborative team committed to driving positive change.
Knowledge and Experience

Essential:
  • Experience as a Change Practitioner and/or a similar/related role
  • Proven experience of delivering change effectively with in depth knowledge and application of of change management principles, concepts, methodologies, and tools.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Experience in manging resistance, conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced and competent in the use of MS/M365 Office applications (specifically SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal
Desirable:
  • Substantial Change Management experience
  • Experience in the policing or public sector environment
  • Change Management certification (e.g AMPG, Prosci or equivalent)
  • Management or professional responsibility experience
  • Experience in leading a Change Network or similar
  • Experience in the change/project environment and the project lifecycle

Interviews

Interviews will take place in June, but this could change.

Hours and Location

The working hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm (36.5 hours) however there is flexibility around working hours which can be discussed with the hiring team. The role is based in Lloyd House. Hybrid working (onsite and remote)

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully passing your medical checks, which will include a drugs test.
