The Role
The Change Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the client’s digital transformation. They will take the lead on change activities for the replacement of a complex enterprise solution for a public sector client.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and deliver within the frameworks and methodologies defined by Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) and Government Digital Services (GDS).
- Act as the ‘the Client Product and Service Owner’, ensuring clarity of and alignment to the obligations set out in the contract.
- Manage the dependencies between the business change and systems development / release delivery.
- Ensure effective transition from project delivery to BAU.
- Ensure effective post live evaluation of services and systems.
- Develop and manage the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) as part of the on-going provision of services.
The above would include, but is not limited to the following responsibilities such as:
- Managing and reporting against Change Management and Training plans, including effective management of associated risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions.
- Facilitating user forums and ‘show and tell’ activities throughout development lifecycles, ensuring effective acceptance evaluation and decision-making processes.
- Facilitate all change and release governance forums relevant to the Client Service.
- Performing Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify the specific training needs for client’s teams, departments, or business units based on their job roles, experience/knowledge and performance expectations.
- Collaborate with senior management and project teams to understand the training requirements and align them with the organisation’s digital transformation goals and broader organisational strategies to enable the development of a Training Strategy for the new solution and subsequently the detailed Training Plan (schedule).
- Work alongside the Project delivery team and Change Management team to design and develop the supporting materials for an effective training program, utilising a mix of in-person, virtual, and self-paced training methods including user manuals, e-learning modules, videos and classroom-based sessions and mentoring.
- Conduct “Train the Trainer” sessions.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
- Manage training team members.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications
- BCS Specialist Certificate in Change Management.
- ITIL Service Management Certification.
- Evidence of continued professional development/learning.
Skills and Competencies
- Experience of providing change in a team leader or management position within a complex environment.
- Knowledge and working experience of change management processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge supportively and effectively where appropriate.
- Able to communicate professionally with both clients and colleagues, using interpersonal skills to work with other teams to resolve outstanding issues.
- Analytical mind with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Has a positive “can do” attitude towards the technical and commercial challenges facing the company and our clients.
- Proven Ability to plan and create training materials in a variety of media.
- Communication skills – excellent written and oral, essential for training development and to enable management reporting.
- Problem-Solving – Ability to identify training challenges before developing a solution.
- Organisational Skills – Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment and manage time effectively to meet the Project training goals.
- Developing and Delivering Solutions : Design and execute effective training programs within an agile or waterfall project.
- Managing Technologies : Leveraging technology to plan and create training materials in a variety of media e.g. handouts / presentations / videos / on-line contextual help etc.
