Zanda, a BioTech/DeepTech startup in London, seeks a CFO to drive the financial strategy, fundraising, and governance as the company accelerates towards Series C. The role interfaces with the Board and investors, shaping the budget, financial planning, and risk management across the organisation.

The CFO will lead the finance function, build scalable financial processes, ensure accurate reporting, and oversee fundraising rounds while partnering with senior leadership to maximise shareholder

Who is the business?

Zanda is partnering with a BioTech / DeepTech Start-up that is revolutionizing the scientific technologies available to play a major positive impact in the future of our environment. The business has assembled an incredibly impressive senior leadership team, and in recent years has raised significant Series A and Series B rounds from high profile investors. They are planning to raise Series C in the next 12-18 months.

The business has cultivated a strong team of high-calibre scientists & immerging leaders who are passionate about sustainability, evidence-based decision making and aiding in the solution to global issues. They are seeking a CFO who believes in the mission, understands the vision and has deep CFO experience gained within science led organisations.

Experience you will gain:

• Be a key member of the Executive team, providing strategic guidance and support on financial strategies. Interface directly with the Board, ensuring they have a clear sense of the overall financial health and potential risk areas of the company.
• Establish themselves as a strong "co-pilot" by supporting the CEO in strategic planning and driving the budget process, and delivery of the business plan.
• Leading in all planning & delivery regarding fundraising rounds whether that be a shorter term Series B+ follow on or a larger Series C raise.
• Leadership and development of a highly insightful and scalable finance function, able to inspire the strategic direction of the business.
• Overseeing the preparation of financial reports and statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement
• Monitoring and analysing financial performance, providing regular reports to the CEO and other members of the executive team
• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements
• Developing and managing relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other external stakeholders
• Providing input and guidance on business decisions and potential investments including M&A

What background should you have before you press apply!

• Strong experience in BioTech, HealthTech, Life Sciences, AgriTech, Pharma (especially leading during Pre-Revenue)
• Proven leader with outstanding management skills
• Previously played a leading role in a Series B + fundraise, IPO, PE or Trade Exit.
• Strong academic credentials, including a bachelor’s degree preferably in a business, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline.
• Accounting qualification such as ACA, CA, CPA, CIMA or ACCA. An MBA qualification will also be considered when combined with relevant financial leadership and industry experience.
• Innovative, visionary thought partner with outstanding financial/business acumen and extensive qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
• Experienced with Board, Investor, and shareholder interactions.
• A proven track record of building a finance team successfully inside a fast-growing and entrepreneurial company, ideally combining learnings from larger company environments on best practice.
