Job summary

The Growth Company's Justice Services is seeking a Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution Justice Services Support Worker to provide rehabilitation and employment training within our programme at HMP Newhall, Wakefield.

You will be dual-trained as a Justice Case Worker and Activity Facilitator, delivering guidance, coaching, mentoring and 1:1 and group sessions to support participants in achieving personal and employment goals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with offenders or individuals from marginalised backgrounds.
• Proven experience planning, facilitating and delivering group sessions, workshops or learning activities.
• Experience supporting individuals to overcome barriers and achieve personal, learning or employment goals.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a target-driven environment.
• Warm, empathetic, and able to quickly build rapport with participants.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Growth Company's (GC) Justice Services is looking for a Creating Future Opportunities (CFO)Evolution Justice Services Support Worker to provide rehabilitation and Employment Training and Education support within our Programme.

You’ll be dual-trained as a Justice Case Worker and Activity Facilitator, offering advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring, and support through regular 1:1 meetings and group sessions. To read more about this programme, please visit: HMPPS Creating Future Opportunities.

Please note, this role is based at HMP Newhall, Wakefield. Occasional travel to other locations will be required as part of the role; therefore, it is desirable that applicants hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own car.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify individual learning needs and develop tailored action plans to support participants in achieving their personal, learning, and progression goals.


• Build strong, supportive relationships with participants to encourage engagement, develop confidence, and maintain participation throughout their journey.


• Accurately record activities, participant interactions, and progress using the CRM system, ensuring all information is up to date and compliant.


• Guide participants in implementing future-focused actions, helping them take practical steps towards achieving their goals and aspirations.


• Deliver group learning sessions designed to enhance communication, social interaction, confidence, and employability skills in an engaging and inclusive environment.

About You:

• Proven experience working with offenders or individuals from marginalised backgrounds.


• Proven experience planning, facilitating and delivering group sessions, workshops or learning activities, with the confidence to engage and motivate participants from a range of backgrounds.


• Experience supporting individuals to overcome barriers and achieve personal, learning or employment goals.


• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.


• Ability to thrive in a target-driven environment.


• Warm, empathetic, and able to quickly build rapport with participants.

Skills Required:

• Experience delivering structured group-based support, training, education or employability sessions.


• Desirable: Experience working within prison, probation or other criminal justice settings.


• Desired: Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and/or teaching qualifications.


• Strong understanding of offender rehabilitation and desistance theory.


• Knowledge of National Probation Service or HM Prison environments, and awareness of local and national training, education and employment opportunities.
