ABOUT THE ROLE

As a CFD Engineer within our New Product Development (NPD) team, you will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation hair styling technologies through advanced simulation, experimentation and engineering analysis.

Working within our multidisciplinary Systems Engineering team, you will utilise Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), thermal analysis and first-principles engineering methods to understand complex physical behaviours, optimise product performance and guide design decisions from concept through to validation.

This is a highly practical role that combines simulation with hands-on engineering. You\'ll design and build prototypes, conduct laboratory testing, and correlate simulation models with experimental results to accelerate innovation and reduce development risk. Working alongside world-class scientists, engineers and product developers, you\'ll directly influence the performance and user experience of products used by millions of consumers worldwide.

LOCATION

This role will be based in our Cambridge office.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and apply CFD models to analyse airflow, heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena within new and existing product platforms.
  • Utilise simulation-driven engineering approaches to optimise product performance, efficiency and user experience.
  • Build, validate and refine CFD and thermal models using experimental and prototype test data.
  • Design, build and evaluate functional prototypes to investigate and validate new technologies and product concepts.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, proof-of-concept activities and engineering investigations to support early-stage innovation.
  • Translate complex simulation results into practical design recommendations for cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electronics, Systems, Science and Product Development teams to solve multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
  • Apply first-principles engineering knowledge across fluid dynamics, heat transfer and thermodynamics to understand and optimise product behaviour.
  • Develop analytical tools, simulation methodologies and automated workflows using Python and engineering software.
  • Analyse, interpret and communicate technical data to support evidence-based product development decisions.
  • Continuously improve simulation accuracy through testing, validation and model correlation activities.
  • Challenge assumptions, investigate root causes and identify innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
