Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine (CESR Portfolio Pathway) at Yeovil District Hospital. This structured programme supports clinicians to progress to consultant level with a personalised development plan and dedicated supervision.

The role offers protected SPA time, funded study leave and access to MRCEM/FRCEM preparation, along with a structured portfolio-building, teaching opportunities, and cross-rotations to enhance your emergency

Qualifications

• Primary Medical Degree (MBBS / MBChB or equivalent).
• Full GMC registration and licence to practice at time of applying.
• UK ATLS/ETC, ALS/EPALS; if expired, evidence of booking.
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development; willingness to undertake relevant courses.
• MRCEM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality ED clinical care and responsible patient management.
• Lead in trauma/cardiac arrest situations and take charge when needed.
• Support junior doctors, teach and supervise; participate in governance and audits.
• Contribute to efficient ED operations and safe patient flow.
• Be part of a staffed rota with shift patterns including nights.
• Offer induction time and consider supernumerary shifts at start.
