Qualifications

Overview

Under the supervision and/or direction of the physician or nurse, performs various duties assisting with the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform Point of Care Testing and quality control.
  2. Perform EKGs as necessary.
  3. Ensure positive patient identification.
  4. Utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DI (Document Imaging), DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Gold, Provider Portal, and websites for insurance verification/eligibility.
  5. Follow protocols appropriate for the practice.
  6. Complete office support tasks accurately and within required time frames.
  7. Return and retrieve messages timely and utilize the EMR inboxes to sort messages.
  8. Demonstrate proper technique in operating all office equipment.
  9. Maintain a clean and stocked patient care area.
  10. Demonstrate Medical Assistant Skill Proficiency.
  11. Assist nurses/techs with patient preparation for examinations, treatments, and/or procedures.
  12. Prioritize tasks and demonstrate initiative.
  13. Seek out duties and work with all staff to render assistance.
  14. Complete all duties in a positive and productive manner.
  15. Take an active role in performance improvement.
  16. Conscious of biohazard safety; manually deliver specimens to the lab and change gloves between patients.
  17. Handle specimens using proper techniques and correctly label for transfer to lab.
  18. Perform all duties using appropriate PPE and in accordance with OSHA standards.
  19. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Two years medical/clinical experience as a Medical Assistant OR graduate of Medical Assistant Program.
