Overview

Beebe Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem Vascular Access RN (PICC) to provide specialized nursing care for patients requiring vascular access services. This role is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of patients needing intermediate care, including the insertion and management of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and other vascular access devices. Will be required to work varied shifts including some weekend and holiday requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical expertise in vascular access, strong decision-making abilities, and the ability to direct and support team members in delivering high-quality patient care. This position requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies related to nursing care, as well as excellent interpretive skills, interactive communication, and consultative collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform PICC and midline catheter insertions using ultrasound guidance following evidence-based protocols.

  2. Assess, plan, and implement vascular access interventions to optimize patient outcomes.

  3. Provide education to patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding vascular access management.

  4. Monitor for complications and ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols.

  5. Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and patient responses.

  6. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care.

  7. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Vascular Access Team.

Additional Responsibilities
  1. Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
  2. Documents assessments accurately and promptly.
  3. Assesses patient safety facts and identifies those patients requiring specific safety devices.
  4. Assesses sites daily and intervenes as appropriate.
  5. Documents educational needs of patients and modifies as needed.
  6. Transcription of orders.
  7. Prioritization of patient care.
Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
Competencies Skills
  • Experience in hospital or acute care setting.
  • Clear communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members.
  • Able to withstand crisis situations.
  • Skills to provide customer service to patients, team members, and visitors.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.
Credentials
  • RN - Registered Nurse.
  • BLS - Basic Life Saving certification.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Education
  • RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program.
