Job summary

St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) in Newcastle is seeking a compassionate Centre Support Worker to join our team at St Vincent's Centre, Newcastle. You will work with service users to identify needs, develop person-centred support plans, and empower independence.

Responsibilities include coordinating support, budgeting, welfare checks, building partnerships with agencies, maintaining records in line with GDPR, supporting volunteers, and promoting the centre through community engagement.

Qualifications

Extensive experience supporting adults with complex needs in a person-centred environment.
Experience with safeguarding principles and health and safety requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Coordinate support services within the centre, including referrals and handling forms.
Develop and review person-centred support plans for individuals.
Provide practical and emotional support to service users.
Help with budgeting, tenancy matters, and appointments.
Maintain case records and referrals in line with GDPR.
Conduct welfare checks and risk assessments.
Build relationships with local authorities and health services.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
Promote services through networking and community engagement.
Respond to calls and emails professionally.
Ensure safeguarding compliance and health and safety.
