Job summary

Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support our UKAS accredited pathology department. The role involves routine pre- and post-analytical tasks across the urgent bench, referrals, Histology, and routine blood sciences.

Full training will be provided, and no degree is required. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience, be computer literate, and be flexible to work 24/7 shifts.

Qualifications

• No degree required; full training provided.
• Experience in a customer service environment is desirable.
• Must be computer literate with good keyboard skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts in a 24/7 service is essential.

Responsibilities

• Number clinical samples.
• Liaise with external laboratories to obtain outstanding referral results.
• Enter patient results into the Laboratory system.
• Advise patients and service users on appropriate tests.
• Deal with private patients invoicing.
• Handle sensitive disposal of foetal remains.
