Job summary

Bruin is seeking experienced Technology Procurement and Commercial Specialists to support complex programmes within Central Government and Defence environments. The role focuses on technology procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management and delivering value for money in the public sector.

You will engage with senior stakeholders, navigate governance processes and identify cost-saving opportunities across multi‑programme initiatives, including AI-related procurements where relevant.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technology procurement and strategic sourcing within public sector contexts.
• Strong understanding of governance, approvals, and public procurement processes.
• Experience managing commercial and supplier relationships across complex programmes.
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and supporting commercial decision-making.
• Track record of identifying and delivering cost savings or other commercial improvements.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Technology Procurement and Commercial Specialists to support complex programmes within Central Government and Defence environments.

This is an opportunity for procurement professionals with a strong background in technology procurement and strategic sourcing, who understand the commercial and governance requirements of working within the public sector.

The successful candidates will support technology procurement activities, manage supplier relationships and engage with senior stakeholders to deliver effective commercial outcomes. A key focus will be identifying cost‑saving opportunities, ensuring value for money and supporting procurement decisions across complex programmes.

Experience of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) related procurement, would be advantageous.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in technology procurement and strategic sourcing within Central Government and/or Defence environments.

• Strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, governance, assurance and approvals.

• Experience managing commercial and supplier relationships across complex programmes.

• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and supporting commercial decision-making.

• A demonstrable track record of identifying and delivering cost savings, efficiencies or other measurable commercial improvements.

• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities across complex procurement activities.

• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working across both Central Government and Defence environments.

• Experience supporting procurement activity involving emerging technologies.

• Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) related procurement.

• Experience supporting large-scale technology or digital transformation programmes.
