Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a lab technician to support tissue processing and cellular pathology workflows. You will perform sample preparation, cut-up, embedding and microtomy, and use automated platforms for sample tracking, staining and digital imaging.

You will prepare biological fluids and input data into the laboratory information management system. In-house training will be provided to achieve competency in cellular pathology.

Qualifications

• Experience in cellular pathology is essential and in-house training will be provided to achieve competency.
• Role involves preparation of biological fluids and data entry into the LIMS.
• Familiarity with tissue processing workflows is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform sample preparation, cut-up, embedding and microtomy as part of routine workflows.
• Utilise automated platforms for sample tracking, staining and digital imaging.
• Handle preparation of biological fluids and maintain accurate records in the LIMS.
• Support the cellular pathology team and participate in competency development through training.
