Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Trust is seeking Associate Practitioners for the Cellular Pathology team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. The role involves sample preparation, embedding, microtomy and using automated platforms for tracking, staining and imaging.

You will prepare biological fluids, input data into the LIMS, and aim to complete the IBMS registration portfolio under supervision. Applicants should have a foundation degree or equivalent and be able to work well in a busy, regulated

Qualifications

• Foundation degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent as minimum qualification.
• NVQ3 in Clinical Laboratory Support or equivalent level qualification.
• Experience in cellular pathology is desirable but in-house training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Sample preparation, embedding and microtomy duties.
• Use of automated platforms for sample tracking, staining and digital imaging.
• Preparation of biological fluids and data input into the laboratory system.
• Work under supervision to achieve competency and IBMS registration portfolio.
